Golden-crowned Sparrow With Flowers For Camera Critters

Golden-crowned Sparrow Foraging Flowers photo by Larry Jordan

I watched this Golden-crowned Sparrow eating the seed pods from these flowers during lunch break Friday.  It looks like some kind of fruit tree like an apple or pear tree to me.  If you can identify the tree, please chime in!

Lovely photo. I miss seeing birds on flowering branches.

I can’t get over the vivid yellow on that sparrows crown!

I see you have an eye for the flora too! Cool. I wonder how many of the plants in your area grow in my area? I am in zone 8a – do you know your zone? We’ve got some redbuds starting to bloom around here…awesome!

@Amber I am in zone 7, the digger pine belt at 1600 feet elevation. Lots of black oak, scrub oak, gray pine, redbud, coyote brush, manzanita, buck brush, and a few pondarosa pines. It is beautiful in the spring when the redbuds begin to bloom. Not quite yet here.
