@Stewart very true. It was the nesting material that gave them away. I expected this nest box to have an Oak Titmouse in it, but when I opened it and saw the bark in the bottom of the box as the nest foundation, I knew it wasn’t a Titmouse. Plus, one day while checking the nest early on, a White-breasted Nuthatch adult flew up right behind me with nest material in its beak. That clinched it 😉
