I wish everyone a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year! May your birding always be excellent and for my photography friends, may the sun always be at your back.
My wish for the new year is that human beings take more responsibility for our environment. Let us all make sure that we support clean air and water and support organizations that help sustain our planet’s biodiversity. Let’s fight environmental disasters like the Keystone Pipeline and Tar Sands Oil. Lets fight mountaintop removal. Let’s save our wolves, save the dolphins, and save our Whooping Cranes and California Condors from extinction.
These causes all require us to take action to solve huge environmental problems both in the United States and all over the world. As Charles Rosner, a graphic designer in the 60’s said, “if you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.”
If at all possible, I ask you, my friends, to support at least one of these causes with financial support if you can afford it, or by simply blogging about these important issues and keeping our legislators on the right path.
Obviously, one of the issues I am supporting this year will be the “Wildlife Conservation Stamp.” We have created a website for the promotion of this proposal and will be sponsoring legislation for the creation of a new Wildlife Conservation Stamp. We are asking for the support of all non-extractive wildlife refuge users like bird watchers, photographers and wildlife enthusiasts to help spread the word about this additional stream of income for our National Wildlife Refuge System.
Thank you for supporting my blog over the last five years with your comments and encouragement. I appreciate all of you and again, wish you joyous a wondrous New Year!
