This is such a great and important post, Larry. The discussion needs to happen, and I hope more and more birders, photographers and wildlife watchers get excited about the possibility of a new way to support and love our National Wildlife Refuge system as non-consumptive users — through a Wildlife Conservation Stamp.

Thank you Ingrid. With over 5,000 Facebook supporters, I think we are well on our way!

you might well wonder Larry; it surely isn’t through lack of promotion? Is there a time frame for the period that is available?

One of the problems Carole is that the USFWS seems to promote the Duck Stamp to people that already purchase it. With a long history of stamp purchases of 90% by hunters because of the requirement that they possess it while hunting, you would think that they would welcome a new Wildlife Conservation Stamp that is attractive to non-extractive users of the refuge system. The obvious advantage of the new stamp would be a stamp that would be appreciated by a much larger demographic!

The Duck Stamp can be purchased all year but it expires on June 30th.
