House Finch Chicks A Few Days Old photos by Larry Jordan
I thought you might want to see some cute little House Finches this week. My neighbor discovered this nest in one of their potted plants on their back porch last May. It is a beautifully constructed nest of twigs and leaves, lined with fine horse hair. You can see a couple of little beaks and the black ovals that are their closed eyes. Here is a shot of the nest before they hatched.
And the House Finch chicks at about 13 days. Notice the fecal sacs have accumulated around the top of the nest.

A Rainbow Appeared As I Watched A Committee Of Turkey Vultures Fly Over
As I was working out in the yard, on an almost clear day, I looked up to see a committee of Turkey Vultures fly over and saw this beautiful rainbow. Lucky for me, my camera was close at hand. See everyone’s Skywatch Friday photos.

I wanted to take this opportunity to wish all Americans a Happy Thanksgiving and pass those same sentiments on to the rest of the world. I am sure that everyone alive today has something for which they can be thankful. Whether it be your family, your friends, your health or the fact that you are well off enough to have a roof over your head and electricity to run your computer so you can read this post. Take a moment today to give thanks for everything you have that brings joy to your life.
Thanksgiving around the world began as people celebrating a bountiful harvest and has evolved into the feast we celebrate today.
