A Smoky Sunrise Over Northern California

Forest Fires In Northern California Give A Fiery Sunrise

The forest fires in Northern California have given us some interesting sunrises but it is always a scary time of year for us.  This is a shot of the sun coming up over Mount Lassen.

If you want to see some really cool skies, check out Skywatch Friday and join the fun!

The smoke does make some interesting sunrise and sunset shots. I’ve gotten some nice, soft landscapes as well. All in all, though, I can do without the fires.

Sorry, I did not read your math feature right, but that goes with age. You captured a stunning photo, but sorry it was caused by those terrible fires. Take care.

Even though it produces some great shots, you really don’t want the smoke from those sorts of fires at any time. We go through the same thing here in Australia, every year with bushfire season in our summer. Sydney – City and Suburbs

When I first saw the photo, I thought, “Wow – so beautiful.” Then I read that the smoke (which didn’t really register at first) was from scary fires. Yikes.

I see satellite images from NOAA sometimes, pointing out the smoke coming from fires in California. Stay safe!
